GO when...
- Late morning or afternoon after dew has dried.
- Dry weather is expected for several hours.
- Temperatures are mild.
- There is enough daylight and wind is manageable.
The best time to cut grass is usually late morning to late afternoon on a dry, mild day.
Avoid cutting too early when dew is still on the grass, too late when the lawn is getting damp again, or during heat, frost or heavy rain risk.
Timing matters because grass condition changes through the day. A lawn that is too damp at 8am may be much better by 11am.
Check my local grass weatherLate morning can be good once dew has dried. Very early morning is often too damp.
Early evening can work in dry weather, but avoid cutting when the lawn is becoming damp again.
Afternoon is often good if it is not too hot and the grass is dry.
Only if the grass is already dry and rain is not imminent.
Grass usually needs regular cutting during active growth, mainly spring through autumn.
